Telecom giant MTN has announced the closure of all its stores and service centres across Nigeria after one of its facilities was destroyed on Monday, July 29, 2024.

The incident was sparked by customer outrage when MTN barred the lines of several subscribers over the weekend due to discrepancies between their National Identification Numbers (NIN) and SIM registrations.

A viral video circulating on social media shows a mob demolishing a barricade fence outside the MTN office in FESTAC Town, Lagos, highlighting the intensity of the protest.
