TimeTestedInfo ||Presidency mocks El-Rufai amid expulsion from SDP

The Presidency has aimed a jab at a former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, following reports of his expulsion from the Social Democratic Party (SDP).

The SDP National Working Committee (NWC), earlier on Monday, expelled the former governor for alleged forgery of the party’s membership documents and relationship with another political party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

He was also banned for 30 years from identifying or participating in the SDP activities.

El-Rufai, a former member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), joined the SDP in March over misgivings with President Bola Tinubu’s government.

He subsequently aligned himself with other political figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, and former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, to adopt the ADC in readiness for the 2027 general election.

In a brief but pointed post shared via his X handle on Monday, the Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, Bayo Onanuga, wrote: “Internally Displaced Again!”

Not a few watchers of political events in the country interpreted the statement as a sarcastic reference to El-Rufai’s recent political travails.
