FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLIC INFORMATION
By: Office of the State Coordinator, PCRC Nasarawa State
Fellow Residents of Keffi and Akwanga,
This is to inform the general public that the power outage currently affecting Keffi and Akwanga is NOT a minor fault.
On 7th October 2026, THREE high tension transmission towers (T78, T79, T80) collapsed completely along the Karu-Keffi-Akwanga 132kV line due to heavy storm.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed that ALL 33kV feeders from Keffi and Akwanga Substations are down and no load can be supplied.
WHAT THIS MEANS:
Unlike a normal trip that can be fixed overnight, rebuilding 3 towers takes WEEKS. TCN has not given any restoration date till date (14th Oct).
THEREFORE, RESIDENTS OF KEFFI AND AKWANGA SHOULD NOT EXPECT ELECTRICITY ANYTIME SOON.
Please prepare alternative power sources and secure your homes and businesses. Darkness increases security risk.
Our PCRC Divisions in Keffi and Akwanga are already placed on alert to support the Nigeria Police Force for increased night patrol during this period.
We will keep you updated as TCN progresses.
Please share to all Keffi/Akwanga platforms.
Signed:
Ibrahim Babayo
