A video has appeared on social media showing hundreds of Nigerians stranded at special passport intervention centres in the UK.

They faced long delays during recent Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) backlog-clearing exercises.
The Service Public Relations Officer, DCI Akinsola Akinlabi, in a public announcement in August, disclosed that the London and Manchester legs of the exercise will run concurrently from September 7 to September 19, 2026.
Taking to the microblogging platform X on Monday, an X user @Oluomoofderby revealed that many Nigerians had come from different parts of the UK just to get passport services but were left unattended, a common occurrence in Nigeria.
He wrote on X: “Passport Intervention Centre in Manchester: Nigerians Deserve Better Service.
“It is now 11:30 a.m., and people who arrived as early as 9:00 a.m. are still waiting, with nothing happening. This is not how we should treat Nigerians who have taken time off work, travelled long distances, and paid for passport services.
“Please, we cannot continue doing things this way. We need proper planning, better organisation, clear communication, and an efficient system that respects people’s time and dignity.
