The seven-month-old baby was unresponsive, unwilling to separate from the mother as it watched the visitor. When various antics to get the child’s attention failed, the stranger offered a piece of the highest denomination which the toddler grabbed without disengaging from the mother. The money was still in its firm grip when the giver left to explore other possibilities for lasting friendship.
