As political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Niger Delta militant leader, Endurance Amagbein, has called for aggressive grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Amagbein, who describes himself as “General” and is also known as “Adaka Boro the Second,” made the call in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja
He stressing that victory at the presidential poll would depend largely on the ability of pro-Tinubu groups to take their campaign to communities, wards and polling units across the country.
According to him, political support cannot be built solely through high-profile meetings and rallies involving political elites, but must be firmly rooted in the grassroots. He said every successful political campaign requires sustained engagement with ordinary citizens and convincing them of the reasons they should support a particular candidate.
“This is my agenda,” Amagbein declared, explaining that he had, over the past few years, sustained grassroots mobilisation for the Renewed Hope Agenda by reaching out to communities, friends and political associates within the APC and other political parties.

He said the grassroots structures and networks established since the 2023 general elections would be strengthened and replicated through massive rallies, community engagements and other mobilisation programmes ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Amagbein further expressed optimism that the programmes and policies of the Tinubu administration, particularly those targeted at the Niger Delta, would translate into massive electoral support for the President in the region.
He projected that Tinubu could secure as much as 97 per cent of the overall votes in the Niger Delta, but cautioned supporters against complacency, insisting that such a target could only be achieved through sustained and well-coordinated mobilisation.
“Hence, every Tinubu lover needs to sustain the tempo and redouble efforts to ensure it is Tinubu all the way,” he said.
The former agitator, however, raised concerns over what he described as the politicisation of traditional institutions in the Ijaw communities, alleging that some traditional platforms had been manipulated for political purposes.
He particularly criticised what he described as attempts to “capture sacred traditional institutions” and use them as political instruments to advance the interests of individuals and preferred candidates.

According to him, Ijaw traditional stools and platforms should remain independent enough to speak truth to power whenever necessary, rather than becoming instruments for political manoeuvring.
Amagbein also cautioned against allowing any individual to hijack the collective struggle and aspirations of the Ijaw people by allegedly influencing leadership structures within bodies such as the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) and Ijaw National Congress (INC) for partisan political purposes.
Despite what he described as political challenges and opposition from some quarters, Amagbein reaffirmed his commitment to the Tinubu administration and the Renewed Hope Agenda, saying his support for the President would remain independent and unwavering.
He said he would continue his grassroots mobilisation even if some of his fellow Ijaw people chose to overlook or downplay his contributions to the administration, expressing confidence that the impact of his efforts would ultimately be reflected at the ballot box in 2027.
“I don’t know how to abandon anything I have committed myself to,” he said, stressing that his decision to support the Tinubu-led administration was a commitment he intended to sustain until the 2027 elections.
