Musa has been appointed Secretary 1 of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), adding the serving defence minister to the party’s campaign structure.
The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde.
Reacting to the development, Musa expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu and the leadership of the APC for the confidence placed in him.
The minister described the appointment as another call to service and pledged to discharge his responsibilities with dedication, discipline and focus.
He assured the party leadership, stakeholders and supporters that he would contribute fully to the campaign while remaining committed to his constitutional responsibilities as Minister of Defence.
Musa, however, stressed that his primary responsibility remains the protection of Nigeria’s territorial integrity and the safety of citizens across the country.
He said ongoing military operations, reforms within the defence sector and collaboration among security agencies would continue despite his new political assignment.
“The ongoing operations, strategic reforms, and inter-agency collaborations across the defence sector will continue unabated with increased vigour.
“Our resolve to uphold the mandate of the Ministry of Defence, protect our people, and drive Mr President’s vision for a safe and prosperous Nigeria remains firm and unshakeable,” he said.
The minister also appealed for unity among APC members and Nigerians, urging supporters of the administration to remain focused as the country approaches the 2027 elections.

He expressed confidence in the APC’s chances at the polls, while maintaining that the administration would continue to pursue its governance and security objectives.
Musa’s appointment comes as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 presidential campaign, with the party assembling a campaign council comprising political figures and senior government officials.
His emergence as a campaign council secretary also places his new political role alongside his ongoing responsibilities at the Ministry of Defence, amid continuing security challenges across the country.
