An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, ordered the remand in custody of 32-year-old Waheed Ibrahim for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl.
Ibrahim appeared before Chief Magistrate E. Kubeinje on a one-count charge of defilement.
The Prosecutor, Insp. John Iberedem, told the court that the defendant committed the offense against the girl on September 3, at 27 Adeba Street, Igbeju-Lekki, Lagos.
Iberedem said that Ibrahim defiled the four-year-old girl by inserting his finger into her vagina.
The prosecutor said the offense contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The section stipulates life imprisonment for anyone found guilty of sexually penetrating any opening in the body of another person, with a part of his body without permission of the person.
The Chief Magistrate, who did not take the defendant’s plea, ordered his remand in a Correctional facility in Lagos.
He subsequently adjourned the matter until November 5, pending legal advice from the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP.
