How to secure the helps of God in times of need (Part 1) by Abraham O. Ojeme

Hello! A blessed and refreshing day to you my dearly beloved! I welcome you to ARISE devotional for today, Monday the 27th of March 2023 on the platform of the Builders Forum. My name is Abraham Olufemi Ojeme

Today is the first day on our devotional series for this week with the topic,

HOW TO SECURE THE HELPS OF GOD IN THE TIME OF NEED

Our scriptural text for this week devotional is Acts. 26:22 and please permit me to read TPT.

(TPT) “But in spite of all this, I have experienced the supernatural help of God up to this very moment. So I’m standing here saying the same thing that I’ve shared with everyone, from the least to the greatest………..

That is the testimony of Apostle Paul, a man of tangible experiences with God.

You will need to understand his story to appreciate that testimony.

Take a listen to him in 2 Cor. 11:24-27 and please permit me to read the GW translation.

24 Five times the Jewish leaders had me beaten with 39 lashes;

25 three times Roman officials had me beaten with clubs. Once people tried to stone me to death; three times I was shipwrecked, and I drifted on the sea for a night and a day.

26 Because I’ve traveled a lot, I’ve faced dangers from raging rivers, from robbers, from my own people, and from other people. I’ve faced dangers in the city, in the open country, on the sea, and from believers who turned out to be false friends.

27 Because I’ve had to work so hard, I’ve often gone without sleep, been hungry and thirsty, and gone without food and without proper clothes during cold weather.

For a mortal man to survive those experiences, it must have been as a result of supernatural helps from above.

Let me outline the syllabus for this very vital deliberation for our devotional this week.

Why would you need the help of God?
What is the definition of divine help?
How can the helps of God be secured?

Let’s begin with the part one of our syllabus.

Why would a person need the helps of God?

To begin with, man is created to be eternally dependent.

Take a listen to 1 Sam. 2:9.

He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

The help of God is indispensable in the journey of life.

I began this teaching with the experience of Apostle Paul.

All what he went through were after he became a Christian.

Being a believer doesn’t exclude you from the need for the helps of God, it actually qualifies you for divine helps.

Let’s look at a few existential reasons why you need the helps of God.

Fitstly, the race of destiny is a marathon race that requires stamina and time.

Without the helps of God, man cannot complete it successfully.

The journey of life is like that of the children of Israel from Egypt to the promised land, Canaan.

How would that journey have been possible without the helps of God?

How would they have crossed the Red Sea? What about all the evil beasts in the wilderness?

Without the pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night, how would they have navigated their way?

Secondly, listen to what the Bible says in Ps. 74:20 about this earth.

Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty.

This earth is a wilderness of darkness loaded with all manner of evil.

How do you want to survive in that kind of place without the supernatural helps from above?

Take a listen to what the Bible says in 1 Pet. 5:8 about the devil, the master architect of evil himself and please permit me to read the CEV translation.

(CEV) Be on your guard and stay awake. Your enemy, the devil, is like a roaring lion, sneaking around to find someone to attack.

How would you survive the sneaking schemes of the devil on this earth?

And remember, he will not come to you as the devil that he is, but through diverse means that wil be ever difficult for you to decipher except by the helps of God.

Take a listen to what the scripture says in 2 Cor. 11:13-15 and please permit me to read the ERV translation.

13 They are false apostles, lying workers. They only pretend to be apostles of Christ.

14 That does not surprise us, because even Satan changes himself to look like an angel of light.

15 So it does not surprise us if Satan’s servants make themselves look like servants who work for what is right. But in the end those people will get the punishment they deserve.

Tell me my friend, without the helps of God, how would you survive in this pretentious world even in the church?

There is no person or place that is exempted from these evil machinations in this world.

And there is no time in life that man can hide from the arrows of evil except by the help of God.

The helps of man can never suffice in this life.

As a matter of fact, the Bible in Ps. 60:11 warns against depending on the help of man and please permit me to read the GNB translation.

(GNB) Help us against the enemy; human help is worthless.

Another fact about the needs of life is that they are not predictable.

And often they can be overwhelming to the point of frustration.

How would Job have come out of all his predicaments?

For a man to lose everything he ever has all within such a short space of time, definitely would be overwhelming.

But the helps of God arose for Job in Job. 42:10 and please permit me to read the GW translation.

(GW) After Job prayed for his friends, the LORD restored Job’s prosperity and gave him twice as much as he had before.

Some eye openers here;

Restoration is not possible without the helps of God but with divine help, any situation can be reversed.
Divine help will not just happen. There are things to do to provoke helps from above.

These are some of the things we shall be looking at all through this week by the help of the Holy Spirit.

Take it from me my dear friend, a helpless man is a hopeless man.

Don’t ever allow the enemy to push you to where you cannot access the helps of God because that is always his schemings.

He knows that the helps of God is man’s all purpose solution to all the problems in life. Hallelujah!

Please be reminded that LIVING THE FAITH WE BELIEVE, our spiritual empowerment program goes live later today at 7pm(WAT). We shall be expounding on this same vital topic as it relates to our walk with the Lord. See you there!

Please let me pray for you.

I pray for you today that you will never be helpless again in your life.
When men deny you, the helps of God will arise for you.
Where your hands can’t reach, the helps of God will put it within your reach.
Where your voice can not be heard, the helps of God will speak for you.
This new week, the helps of God will reverse the irreversible for you.
That your long-standing expectation will become manifestation by the helps of God.
Because of the helps of God, no more hopeless case in your life.
It is the helps of God that removes stress from the journey of destiny.

Therefore, welcome to your struggle-free lane of life. Congratulations. Amen and amen.

Peace!
