The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has attributed last Friday’s power outage at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos to rain, which was accompanied by fierce winds and storms.
The agency has however apologized to passengers and other airport users that witnessed the temporary outage and regretted the inconvenience caused by it.
Recall that the power outage had occurred at about 23:15p.m on Friday, April 1, 2022.
A statement by Mrs. Faithful A. Hope-Ivbaze, the Ag. General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, said that the fierce winds and storms affected one of its feeders and consequently resulted in the disruption of the power outage at the D Wing of the airport.
Hope-Ivbase, however, said that the winds and storms were a natural occurrence.
The statement added: “However, our engineers quickly discovered the fault, and liaised with the Ejigbo duty/area control office of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria and together resolved the problem. Normalcy has since been restored at the affected area.”
