Buhari Commissions BUA 3m Metric Tonnes Cement Plant

The BUA cement group has disclosed that its production will hit 17 million metric tonnes in 2023 when its additional 3million metric tons plants are completed. 
The Chairman of the BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, disclosed this at the commissioning of the new 3 million metric tons cement plant  line 4 in Sokoto.
Rabiu said: “We have continued our expansion to meet the cement demand in Nigeria with focus on export. We have Commissioned 4 plants in the last four years. Two  in Edo and two in Sokoto, bringing our current output to 13mmt.”
“We are combining line 4, line 5 is under construction and would be ready in the first quarter of 2023.”
He said the benefit of the plant extends to the region and the entire country as it is the largest employer of labour in the region.
Rabiu further disclosed that 98 percent of raw materials are sourced locally.
“We are committed to environmental sustainability. Our power plant run on 100 percent LNG leading to reduced emissions.”

Buhari commissioned the new plant at exactly 12:20 pm.

Shortly after the commissioning of the line 4 plant, the President and his entourage were taken on a tour of the plant by the Chairman of the company.

Buhari is expected to address the gathering after his brief tour of the company’s facilities.
